New job!

So I'm excited! Life has been really busy for me.
I just got a job for an artist position at Gylphic Entertainment.
So hurray for my first industry job!
I'm really excited and I didn't have to move too far from home!
I currently live in Boardman, Ohio (about a five minute walk from my work!)
I just got two kittens and I'm working on plans for my wedding this May!
Life is pretty great right now and is rather busy as I finish up some much belated freelance work!

I'm currently working on a video game titled: "MarkerMan Adventures"
I really love the stuff I've been doing so far and hope I enjoy it even more in the future!
Here's to official work week#2!

Lord of the West

Lord of the West is the tenative title for my current 'in the works' novel about the infamous egyptian cowboy my close friends have all known and come to love named Anubis.

The story mixes a wonderful cast of characters that blend both the old world mysteries and legendsof Egypt, and joined it's flavor into a rich tale that takes place into the gun blazing American Wild West. (The year is late 1800s/early 1900s)

This is where a cursed Ancient Egyptian takes up saddle and spurs, dawns a cowboy hat and reigns in all sorts of fun adventures! The key to the story is discovering the story of Anubis, his curse and history- and finding a little love, adventure, and the cure to his immortality,( that of which can be sought within the ancient writings found only in the American Wild West!)

Female lead, Prudence Baggerfield, was shocked after reading a newspaper article about the find of ancient Heirogylphics exsisting in the American West. Her fiance believes it's a haux, and she agrees it could be, but takes her chances to journey there anyways- hoping to find the answers. If the find IS true, she could find herself being apart of one of the greatest discoveries of man kind.

Prue, an Egyptologist (and a dreamer of adventure, a book worm extroidinaire!), soon finds herself a gun-slinging cowboy as her sidekick and partner in crime.....
She's apalled this rugged American is the one responsible for the find.....
but bares with his personality quirks in hopes that she'll find what she seeks.

And there's more to learn once the novel is ready and published!
I've already begun digging and writing up the perfect first chapter for this very original piece of fiction.
You have adventure.
You have romance.
And you have a gun slinging, ancient Egyptian cowboy- who has more secrets than the mind can concieve!

(Did I mention he's been cursed atleast two times in his life?)

That's right kiddos, Anubis has the curse of the Soul of a Train...
and he can only thank his trespasses agaisnt the natives of America for that!
(The curse of the train is what my demoreel is! So I hope this explains a little into the story of what concieved that!)

It's a book that's all sorts of fun, directing a general audience to most members of the family.
It will be a good, delicious read and I'll make it worth your time.
The world needs to read this.
And I aim to share it.
Because it would take to long to draw out such an illustrious and most epic of tales, I'm sticking to another love of mine and actually sticking my guns to writing up a novel- atleast one to be worth publishing within my life time.

So here world, this one's for you.

Once I have the time, the website will be located here: http://www.lordofthewest.com

Fun, updated current sketches!

I've been doing a lot of digital sketches lately.
I figured it's about time to upload something to my blog.
As far as the career search goes, I'm still looking! I know the industry is hard to get into, but I'll perserve! I'm currently beginning some part time (hopefully eventually full-time) freelance worK! It's exciting.
I've got one illustration wrapping up this week and am hoping to get another one started!

Here are some sample sketches for what I've been doing!
The Animal sketches are for 'selling' myself to a possible freelance client for a children's book.
The others are character sketches that I did for fun as a series for my  online- rpg I run.
There's about 500 members in that writing forum I run, with about that many characters in the database to draw! I've only done maybe 8?
Lol, but I only post a few here!

Hope you all enjoy!
And feel free to make comments!

Coming down to the End

Well, my demo reel got approved today! Hurray for that! It's only about a minute and a half, and it's a pure development and conceptual reel. I'm excited because I haven't seen anyone else graduate with just a reel focused on such a project. The jobs I can apply for with a reel like mine should also offer me some creative jobs for in the future and I'm so excited! It's a dream to think I could one day work for a company and get to use this skill.

The reel will be available online in just a few days! (hopefully!)
Will post it when it's available!

Also my flatwork art is available in a full color, 9x7 book!
It's not for sale, but for my own efforts in sending out my work to have it appear more professional. I want everything to go perfectly, because the type of job my reel focuses on is complex to label.

On another note, life is grand!

And also a note to all.....

If you're gonna dream, you might as well ask for the moon. Dream big and go all the way. Nothing can get in your way!

Dream Big.
Get going.
Get living.

Life's too small to waste on not doing what you wanna do with it.

And right now, life's pretty grand.

Demo Reel Progress

So I'm finally heading into the last week of portfolio. Wish me luck everyone! And if there's one thing I've learned from this project it's how to stay on track, diligence and to appreciate a valuable skill I've learned from my days as working as a cook...
Organization! It saves you a lot of time when you stay organized, even if you have to take some time out to do it, keep yourself updated and to move ahead.
So things are going ok, I don't have much left to tweak on the animations. I'm down to three shots and only one needs any actually tweaking on the animation so that should all be done on monday.

Last week I was worried because I was behind the class schedule (though still right on track on my own), however, this week my teacher was happy with my progress and gave me some good pointers (even if there wasn't much to fix- which is good on my part).

I can't wait to graduate!

I'll be updating as things progress. I'm excited to make my presentation, I have only one more thing left to send to a printshop online and that's my movie poster.
Yep! I'm doing a larger cut out featuring Anubis for my display- should be fun!
I can't wait to finalize the design for the rest....

But for now, it's dinner time.

Website Semi-updated

My website is finally updated. I saw a job opening and decided it was a good idea to get this thing updated before graduation.

So here is what I have so far- check it out and expect more elaborations after my graduation in March.

Expected graduation:
March 20, 2008

Status report on demoreel:
It's going amazingly well! I can't wait to see how it all looks in the end! And I can't wait for portfolio review!

Status report on novel:
I'm actually going to rewrite it, starting right after graduation! So expect to read more about that soon!

Novel's anticipated title:
Lord of the West
and possibly the subtitle: And the Hour Glass of Blood

Soon the world will be enlightened by the magnificent ancient Egyptian cowboy.

Hope all is well with the world, things are great for me.
